Polished & Satin Brass – Lacquered

Regular cleaning with warm soapy water will help to maintain the appearance and the application of a good clear beeswax with help to prolong the lacquer finish.

No guarantee can be given on the lacquer finish. There are many environmental and/or atmospheric factors that can affect the life of the lacquer, from sea air to industrial pollution. Once the lacquer starts to break down, we recommend that it is removed completely. This can be done by the use of paint stripper/acetoneĀ (follow manufactures care instructions) or extra fine wire wool grade 0000. Once the lacquer has been removed regular cleaning using a good metal polish, e.g. Peek Polish or Autosol is recommended, however you can re-lacquer the item.

Polished Brass – Un-Lacquered

Regular polishing using a propriety brand of metal polish, e.g. Peek Polish or Autosol, will keep the item bright and polished. You can choose to leave the item and the finish will naturally age and develop a more natural lustre over time.
